Singer
Paulette Carlson Honoring Vietnam Vets in Historic National Tribute
After placing
motherhood before music and taking a hiatus to raise her daughter, Cali
(now 13), award-winning country singer Paulette Carlson has returned to
Music Row as part of a historic national tribute to Vietnam veterans.
The former
lead singer of Highway 101 (known for hits such as The Bed You Made
for Me, Just Say Yes, Somewhere Tonight,
and Whiskey If You Were a Woman) recently moved back to Nashville
after being largely inspired by her brother, Gary, a Vietnam vet now
suffering from a debilitating illness contracted during his tour of duty.
The genesis of her latest CD project is a tune she penned titled,
Thank You Vets. The song just came to me, Carlson says. Our
Vietnam vets never got the thanks and recognition they deserved, and I
felt it was about time they did.
The
songstress will take center stage during a 7-day star-studded celebration
called Operation Homecoming USA in Branson, Missouri on June 13-19. Itll
be the first-ever National Homecoming honoring Vietnam veterans and their
families. More than 100, 000 people from across the U.S. are expected to
attend.
Carlson is
set to perform at a 12-hour concert featuring Ann Margaret, the Beach
Boys, Mary Wilson and the Supremes, Oak Ridge Boys, the Doobie Brothers,
the Four Tops and many others.
As part of
her tribute to military troops, Paulette has teamed up with music industry
pals Ed Seay, Michael Spriggs, Eddie Bayer, Mike Bradley, and Duncan
Mullins to produce her return album,
Its About Time. The process has been so fast and easy I was
amazed. Its really great to be back and be received with such a warm
welcome.
Thank You
Vets from Its About Time will be heard publicly for
the first time during her live performance at Operation Homecoming USA on
June 18.
