“To me the purpose of this interview was to make sure that the conversation was in the atmosphere,” said interviewer Sharon Kay. “In music city, rarely do you hear from the ones that make the decisions. I’m not talking about the secretaries. I’m talking about the decision makers that make things happen in music in Nashville. So having the discussion with a non-profit music organization, a recording artist, and of course Pam and her years of expertise, I wanted to get the conversation going, because we actually are going to reconvene this and focus on other areas of the music business.”
“Sharon Kay is a pioneer powerhouse whom I admire,” says Lewis. “I appreciate being a part of the conversation… to be continued!”
In the interview, the group discussed the challenges faced by women in the industry, shedding light on the need for increased visibility and opportunities. The conversation touched on the evolving landscape of gender dynamics within Nashville’s music scene, highlighting the strides made and the long road ahead in achieving equality.
JAZZY 88 WFSK listeners were treated to an engaging dialogue that not only celebrated Women’s History Month but also served as a reminder to continue conversations surrounding gender diversity in the music industry to create real change.
