“Onoleigh’s clear focus on what she wants to say and how she wants to say it is very impressive,” says producer Brandon Hood. “I’ve loved getting to work with her in the studio as she discovers who she is even further and can’t wait to see where this song takes her.”
Onoleigh’s songwriting debut solidifies her place in Nashville’s inner circle with her classic, country storytelling and unapologetic vulnerability:
“I was one footstep in front of the other
Walking in every wrong way
Always right on time
Not in the right place
I was setting the world on fire
Running wild with nowhere to go
Burning time burning bridges
Lord knows this road’s been
Beautifully broken
Again and again
Beautifully broken
Torn up and bent
I was hopelessly hoping
With no way of knowing
Every right wrong turn,
Every scar I’ve earned,
Every piece of me that ripped in two
Was beautifully broken
Beautifully broken
For you.”
“Beautifully Broken is an extremely personal song about my journey to love,” says Onoleigh. “To me, the hardest part in the pursuit of finding your person is that you have to endure a lot of wrong ones first… resulting in many broken pieces to clean up along the way. This song is my anthem and a constant reminder that the road of heartbreak will eventually lead to the love of my life, and I’ll be ready for it!”
The track was produced by Hood (Sam Hunt, Rascall Flatts, Jimmie Allen) mixed by Andrew Bollman (dB Studios), and mastered by Nathan Dantzler (thehitlab.)
“Onoleigh is a born performer…her connection with her audience is genuine, soulful, and authentic. Then there’s that knock your socks off, big-time voice of hers that she delivers with emotional energy and range. She’s got it all,” shares John Oates of Hall & Oates.
Onoleigh broke onto the country music scene in 2021 with two back-to-back releases. Her first single, Ghost Stories, a tale of the modern-day struggle of being “ghosted,” was spotlighted by CMT.com after a successful premiere on SCENES Media. She followed that up with the heart-wrenching tune, Make It Hurt, written by Maren Morris, Rhett Akins, and Chris DeSefano which premiered on Taste Of Country.
Onoleigh is currently in the studio with producer Jonathan Wyndham recording her debut record.
About Onoleigh
Onoleigh is a Nashville based singer-songwriter raised in small town Illinois. She moved to Nashville with a dream and started paying her dues immediately, singing at honkytonks from Tootsie’s to Kid Rock’s. As she started to find her voice as an artist, she took the show on the road, opening for country acts Jordan Davis, Tyler Rich, Joe Nichols, and Rodney Atkins. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was Onoleigh’s artistry and sound.
“My whole life, music has been the one thing that can center me. It’s been my constant, and despite the chaos around me, it’s the one thing I can find clarity in. It’s also the thing that makes me feel weightless and free. The idea that I could make music that could help other people feel that way and get through the hard parts of life, that’s what drives me,” says Onoleigh.
Working on her debut record with producer Jonathan Wyndham, Onoleigh is now confident she’s found her voice and her sound, and it shows. She’s all smiles as they craft each song, a chorus of suggestions flowing from her as she sways to the music.
“Onoleigh is honestly a dream artist,” says Wyndham. “She grows quickly, has no ego even when she does incredible things with her voice many would die to do, and wears her heart on her sleeve, yielding us some of the most compelling songs I’ve gotten to be a part of. Sure, the art we’re making is going to set her career on fire, but most importantly it’s going to reach a lot of people and let them feel known, heard, and seen. This stuff is incredible. I mean, this started as her hiring me on to produce two songs and now we’ve written more than 10 songs in 3 weeks and are cutting a whole album. You can’t fake that, and it’s certainly not a manufacturable thing! That only happens when an artist is ready, their craft is right, and they’ve got something to say.”
