Shelly Mullins Joins PLA Media As Senior VP of Marketing

Award-winning industry professional Shelly Mullins has joined the Music Row-based PLA Media publicity firm to lead their talented team as Senior VP of Marketing.

Mullins brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked over 30 years in the music industry in publicity, event production and promotion, royalty accounting, television production, studio management, booking, and as a musician before finally started her own publicity and marketing company ProMO Image over a decade ago. Shelly was nationally recognized with the prestigious EW Scripps President’s Award for her work in television production in 2005.

“I have known of Shelly and her impressive pedigree. It’s good to have a brain trust again and I am delighted to have her team-up with me at PLA. T-wanda!” says Pam Lewis, President and Founder of PLA.

“I’ve admired and known Pam Lewis for years and her work for even longer!” states Mullins. “I was a teenager and was there to see the first broadcast of MTV from my living room. Like everyone else, I was glued to it from the moment the Buggles hit their first note until I left for college. It was a HUGE part of my life and contributed greatly to my love of music, and Pam was instrumental in this launch. When I got to Nashville, Garth Brooks had exploded and it reshaped the entire industry, which Pam was also instrumental in doing, so her influence followed me into that era too. So when the opportunity came along to work with her, I just had to take it. Life is truly amazing… especially when it feels like things have come full circle.”

Shelly’s music career dates back to 1989 when she left her post-college desk job behind to become a full-time musician as a vocalist and keyboard player performing approximately 200 dates per year across a six-state circuit. Five years later, in 1996, she moved to Nashville to see where things would lead. She immediately got a job shaping hats and selling boots on Lower Broadway to get her fingers on the pulse of the local music scene. After performing both on and off the road, she decided to use her college education and pursue a career in the music business and the rest is history. Her stints include reputable positions at Kaleidoscope Media, Creative Workshop, High5 Television, William Morris, and Cumulus Radio, just to name a few.
