Songwriters Trey Calloway and Dan Lowe were selected from 11 songwriters who performed Saturday during the Feb. 1 qualifying round for Tennessee Songwriters Week held at Motif on Music Row and will advance to the showcase round Saturday, March 1 at the Franklin Theatre.

“American Idol” season 20 winner Noah Thompson hosted and performed. Singer-songwriter Makky Kaylor opened performances with his self-penned “Tennessee, In My Dreams,” which is Tennessee’s 13th official state song.

Songwriters were rated by a judging panel of industry veterans including renowned author, songwriter and historian Don Cusic; Robert K. Oermann, dubbed “the dean of Nashville’s entertainment journalists,” and multi-platinum and gold record award-winning songwriter Alan Rhody.

Sound was provided by Shiloh Music and food was courtesy of Music Row Bar & Grill.

A portion of proceeds from Saturday’s qualifying round is being donated to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to Support Music Professionals.

Winners of qualifying rounds progress to showcase events across Tennessee and ultimately perform at the renowned Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. Out of nearly 50 participating venues across Tennessee, Motif on Music Row hosted the only qualifying round in Metro Nashville.
