WORLD VIDEO PREMIERE: Digital Journal Debuts Nathan Jacques’ “Young Devil”
Digital Journal debuts Los Angeles based Americana singer-songwriter Nathan Jacques‘ fourth preview video Young Devil from his Live Out West EP and documentary. Jacques’ style is described as heavily influenced by the western greats such as Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Eddy Arnold, and Bobby Bare, among others.
In the premiere, Nathan describes Young Devil as “a dark romp through a twisted, trippy desert. A man’s search for his lost mind coupled with visions of this past coming to haunt him in the night. It’s the beginning of the character Loud Mind’s journey and he’s realizing maybe he bit off more than he can chew.”

Nathan’s new live, in-studio EP, Live Out West, is set to release on September 30, featuring five songs – four originals and one cover. Produced by Nathan and Ed Donnelly (Willie Nelson, Zac Brown), the EP is accompanied by a 30+ minute, documentary-style live film of Nathan and his band in the famous EastWest Studios cutting the project.

“This live in-studio EP is a chance to showcase where my sound is since the 2021 release of Loud Mind,” says Nathan. “The additional documentary aspect of the project offers listeners a chance to clue into my music and storytelling. I hope it provides a contextual bedrock before we begin work on my next full-length record.”
Nathan debuted his first sneak peek into the project in August with a profile in The Bluegrass Situation of the Marty Robbins signature tune Big Iron. His second preview debuted on Americana UK for his track Drifting, where the publication praised Nathan for his “ethereal, sliding notes, immediately engaging the listener in a song that is, quite simply, beautiful.”

About Nathan Jacques
Hailing from quiet, wooded, mountain towns of New England, Nathan Jacques is a singer/songwriter now based in Los Angeles, CA. Nathan’s music can be pinned as Americana, but threads of country, folk, and vintage rock n roll are deeply woven across his sprawling cinematic soundscapes which gleams with a western edge.
Rather than retreading the well-worn path of autobiographical storytelling, Nathan opts for dramatic, fictional characters and preternatural happenings that lay bare the human truths of love, loss, and redemption.
Following the release of Jacques’ 2021 debut record Loud Mind, his western rock n’ roll show began to pick up speed. Carving out a name and place for himself locally, Jacques has been bringing the new sound to stages across Los Angeles before hitting the road with a freshly assembled band. Jacques and company toured the southern half of the US for the month of March, sharpening and enhancing the sound and feel of the live show.
“The record and the live show should not be identical,” says Jacques. “The live show should be a special event, a certain feeling that you can’t get on the record. We take the elements from the record and dial it all up in some fresh or varied ways.”
Currently in the studio working on the follow-up record to Loud Mind, Jacques has his mind set on continued touring and further expansion of his new western sound. 2022 will deliver a live project and complimentary mini-documentary further connecting his audiences with the creative and narrative-style compositions that ground the Nathan Jacques sound.
